Victoria, BC – Tommy Eisenstat had three hits and scored twice, leading the Yakima Valley Pippins to a 6-3 win over the Victoria HarbourCats in West Coast League action on Father’s Day Sunday at Wilsons Group Stadium in Victoria.
The loss was the first at home this season for the now 11-4 HarbourCats and halts their overall win streak at five games.
Victoria was held to just four hits on the day, as Yakima pitching including starters Wyatt Adams, and relievers Jackson Betancourt, Owen Egan and Payton Graham were able to keep the ‘Cats bats at bay.
Despite the lack of hitting, the HarbourCats, after trailing 2-0, scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 3-2 lead. Yakima would then score four in the top of the eighth to take back a lead they would never surrender.
Sean Heppner got the start for Victoria, giving up a run, on two hits while striking out five in his three innings of work. Allan Dai takes the loss in relief.
The HarbourCats are right back in action at Wilson’s Group Stadium on Tuesday night as the Edmonton Riverhawks come to town for three game set. Tuesday is TEN DOLLAR TUESDAYS, while Wednesday is National Indigenous Peoples Night where fans are encouraged to wear their Orange Shirts if they have them. Thursday is the annual Chamber of Commerce Mixer night on the Party Deck.
