HarbourCats Cruise Past Honkers

Victoria, BC ~ The Victoria HarbourCats used a two-double and three-hit night from John Ceccoli to win the first of a three game series with the NorthWest Honkers, convincingly 13-1 on Tuesday night at Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park in exhibition baseball.

Shawn Loglisci took to the mound for the Cats and like he did in an exhibition game against Coquitlam earlier this season, dominated the NorthWest side. The 37-year old went seven shutout innings while allowing just five hits. Shawn, who was drafted in 2005 by the LA Dodgers has been a treat to have on occasion to pitch in non league games. Josh Verdon also made an appearance in the 8th while Braeden McLaughlin made his first Victoria appearance in the ninth inning.

Russell Young also added a homerun for the Cats, as he has gotten better and better as the summer goes on. He also threw out the only Honkers runner that dared to attempt to steal on Young behind the plate.

What’s Next?

The HarbourCats will continue their series against the Honkers Wednesday at 6:35 pm. If it is anything like tonight was, it promises to be a beautiful evening at the park. That means you should bring a friend or some family and enjoy “Winning Wednesday” at the stadium where all Red Arrow beverages are just six dollars. Get your tickets now at harbourcats.com/tickets.
