BELLINGHAM, Wash. — For the second time this week, Chase Meidroth played a role in a Victoria HarbourCats (15-6/33-15) 10th inning victory.

After smacking a walk-off single in the 10th Wednesday evening in a 5-4 win over the Cowlitz Black Bears, Meidroth led off the 10th inning today with a single and scored three batters later on an error to give the HarbourCats a 6-5 victory over the Bellingham Bells Sunday afternoon at Joe Martin Field.

With the win, the ‘Cats temporally moved back ahead of the Wenatchee AppleSox by .5 game for first in the Second Half North division standings. The AppleSox will play the Yakima Valley Pippins later tonight in Wenatchee.

One night after Branson Wilson pitched the first HarbourCats complete game this year, allowing just four hits and one run over nine full innings, the Bells got on the board early tonight.

Bellingham scored four times in the home half of the first, highlighted by a Christian Dicochea home run, to take an early 4-0 lead.

The HarbourCats, however, started to slowly claw their way back from the early deficit.

One inning later, Tanner Haney would cut the lead to three with a two-out RBI single to score Nate Pecota, and in the fourth Victoria responded with four runs of their own to take their first lead of the game.

The HarbourCats brought seven men to the plate in the four-run fourth to chase Bellingham starter Matthew Henckel from the game, as Haney notched his second hit of the game to score both Pecota and Kyle Sherick. Haney finished the night with three hits, and a season-high three RBI at the dish.

Chase Stewart and Tyler Hilton kept Bellingham off the board in relief through the fifth to the seventh inning, but Bellingham tied the game in the bottom of the ninth to send it to extras.

Unfazed by a late comeback attempt, Meidroth led off the 10th with a single and stole second to get into scoring position for Harrison Spohn at the plate. Spohn grounded a ball to the Bells third baseman, who with two outs made an error that allowed Meidroth to score the game-winning run.

Luka Green shut down the Bells in order in the 10th to give Victoria their 33rd victory on the season, the second most wins in a single season in franchise history—the HarbourCats won 40 games back in 2016.

Victoria will have an off day tomorrow, before beginning a three-game series in Port Angeles against the Lefties Tuesday night. Victoria will play their final six games of the WCL regular season against Port Angeles, as the Lefties will hop back across the strait for a three-game set starting Friday night at Wilson’s Group Stadium.
