OF ETHAN LOPEZ,  Junior, University of Hawaii – A fan favourite from 2017 who returns for 2018, “E-Lo” is a product of La Mirada High School, part of multiple championships prior to heading to Manoa. Can play second, third or any OF spot. Nick-named the “Flyin’ Hawaiian” by PA Announcer Dan Salmon after a pair of highlight-reel catches in 2017, Lopez returns to the HarbourCats in 2018 for his second season in Victoria.  In 26 games in 2017, Lopez hit .230 with 10 RBI and 10 runs scored.  He departed prior to season end, but returned to bolster the team in the 2017 WCL playoffs against Kelowna and Corvallis.

2016 (Freshman): Appeared in 28 games, with 22 starts between  second base, third base, right field, and designated hitter…finished third on the team in batting average, hitting .302…led the team in slugging with a percentage of .488, while tying for the lead in home runs with two…went 3-for-4 in stolen bases, tying for third on the team…also doubled six times, with two triples and 15 RBI…led the team in Big West play hitting .392…went on a team-best 16 game hit streak from 4/10-5/22 hitting .407 (22-for-54) during that stretch…hit first career home run, a solo shot, at UC Santa Barbara (5/1)…recorded a career-high three hits in going 3-for-4 with two runs and a triple versus Long Beach State (5/7).

Prep: A 2015 graduate of La Mirada High School in La Mirada, Calif, he was a three-year letterman in baseball…led his team to consecutive Suburban League Championships from 2013-2014…three-time first team all-league team selection…also twice named first team all-area and once to the first team Long Beach Press-Telegram Dream Team…earned third-team Cal-Hi Sports all-state honors as a senior, after batting .374 with nine doubles, two triples, logging 19 RBI and 19 runs scored, in addition to 14 stolen bases…as a junior, he batted .333 with 19 RBI and batted .346 with 14 RBI as a sophomore after transferring from St. John Bosco High School…played defensive back in football through his junior year…played two years of club baseball for GBG Marucci Navy aiding the team to consecutive USA baseball Junior Olympic Championships from 2013-14…his team also won the 2014 Perfect Game EvoShield Tournament to win the national championship title; he was named to the all-tournament team.
 
Personal: Born in Whittier, Calif…nicknamed “Elo”…major is undeclared…has an older brother and an older sister…parents are Yvonne and Fernando Lopez of Whittier, Calif.
