Event set for Wednesday, July 15, 7pm at Serauxmen Stadium in Nanaimo — streamed online, with Zoom fan meeting to follow

NANAIMO, B.C. — Finally, Nanaimo, you will get to meet your team.

The West Coast League summer collegiate baseball team that will arrive in 2021 and begin play at historic Serauxmen Stadium, will unveil its team naming and branding in a special event on Wednesday, July 15, at 7pm.

This event is presented by the team’s Founding Partner, Island Savings.

IMPORTANT NOTE — Due to the pandemic, this is NOT open to the public, and we will follow provincial health orders. Attendance in person is by invitation only — all are invited to view this event through Nanaimo WCL social media (@NanaimoWCL on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter). Watch the team’s social media feeds for more info, to come in the days leading up to this announcement.

“This is an exciting time, to finally be able to unveil the name, and to switch over our website and social media to the naming that the community in Nanaimo will latch on to and take pride in,” said Jim Swanson, Managing Partner for the Nanaimo WCL Baseball Club. “We are ready to get our merchandise on the street, to get season ticket commitments, and to start working with the business community.

“We so greatly appreciate the welcome we’ve received from people in Nanaimo. Working with the City of Nanaimo, the Serauxmen Stadium board, and all baseball stakeholders in the area has been tremendous. We certainly sense everyone is excited to get this news and have a team name to work with.”

Following the streaming/online announcement, the Nanaimo WCL Baseball Club will hold a Fan Zoom, sponsored by Hub International Insurance — that will start at 8pm, and run for an hour. Fans can ask any questions about the team — how to get involved, what went into the team naming and branding, and what other news might be on the horizon.
