Victoria, BC ~ The HarbourCats rode a strong five innings of one-hit and one-run effort from Levi Abbott (Canisius College) to victory on a beautiful Sunday afternoon to win 6-1 and take the weekend three game set vs Kelowna. This marked the second straight series win for the Cats improving their record to 4-1 over the past five games.

FULL BOX SCORE

Levi Abbott, who hails from Lethbridge, Alberta, came onto the field at Royal Athletic Park for his first WCL appearance on Sunday and made a lasting impression on everyone in the stadium. Levi went five strong innings with just one hit which was the hiccup solo home run off the bat of the Falcon’s Troy McCain in the top of the fourth. That was Troy’s second homerun in as many days. Apart from that, Levi was fantastic, striking out seven batters and carrying an air of confidence about him.

Colton Moore who started in left field for Victoria today, with some starters taking the day off, went deep for the second time this year out over the fence in left field for a two run shot that placed the HarbourCats up 2-0 in the bottom of the third.

Later on Jake Skipworth hit a cannon out to left field for his first WCL homerun which at the time made the game 4-1 in favour of the home side. Jake’s bat has been heating up as of late and that home run will be just the tip of the iceberg for his potential this summer.

The HarbourCats would tack on two more runs before the day was done, and Walker Bordovsky, who ironically, hails from Victoria, but that Victoria is located 3, 857.3 km away in the heart of Texas, came out to close out the final two innings. Walker, who plays for San Jacinto College, was throwing up to 94 mph on the gun making him one of the elite arms in the WCL and top of the line for Victoria.
