HarbourCats, Shamrocks celebrate summer together

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – May 5, 2017

VICTORIA, B.C. — One the highest level of baseball played on Vancouver Island, the other is the cream of the crop in lacrosse.

The Victoria HarbourCats and Victoria Shamrocks organizations are pleased to be teaming up to celebrate each other in the summer of 2017. As the HarbourCats, the youngster in the equation at five years and counting, promote their growing roots in the community with a full slate of games beginning on June 5, the Shamrocks will be in the midst of their 68th season in the Western Lacrosse Association.

On Sunday, June 25, the HarbourCats will be holding SHAMROCKS DAY at the park — all fans of the Shamrocks have to do is show a game ticket from a Q Centre game and they’ll get a premium seat for the base price of $10 (plus ticket fees and taxes). Shamrocks players, coaches and front office will be special guests of the HarbourCats that game, introduced prior to the game as part of the festivities.

Then, on Friday, July 14, the Shamrocks will be hosting a HARBOURCATS NIGHT during their Salute to Local Heroes presented by the Langford Legion at The Q Centre, introducing the HarbourCats on the floor. Any fan showing a used HarbourCats ticket will get a bowl ticket for $10 (includes ticket fees and taxes) on entry to see the Shamrocks take on the Coquitlam Adanacs.

“We felt this was an excellent way for the two organizations to show how important we think sport is to this community, and maybe fans of one team can show support to the other summer club in Victoria,” said Brad Norris-Jones, GM of the HarbourCats.

“Both franchises bring great entertainment to people here, our team in the downtown core and the Shamrocks to the Westshore area. We cheer on the Shamrocks every year to the Mann Cup, and we know their team was excited last year when we set league records for wins and winning streak. It’s great to be in a community where we can both strive to be the best.”

“The HarbourCats do an outstanding job on the field and off,” said Shamrocks GM Chris Welch. “We hope our fans will step outside for a little sunlight and fresh air with us at their park and that their fans will come in out of the sun for a little while at our place as we celebrate two great teams in two great sports.”
