Free playoff tickets with “early bird” season ticket purchases

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 28, 2016
VICTORIA, B.C. – In the wake of a West Coast League (WCL) record 40-win season in 2016, and the franchise’s first playoff berth, the Victoria HarbourCats are extending a limited-time offer to “early bird” 2017 season ticket purchases.
All 2017 season tickets purchased before November 7 will receive free playoff tickets for the 2017 post-season. The offer is contingent on the team qualifying for the playoffs, which the club did in 2016, which was also their fourth consecutive season with an increased win total over the previous year.
Season ticket holders would retain their same seat(s) for playoffs.
“The organization has taken a lot of steps forward in the past three seasons, and we won’t change the end goal — to bring Victoria a championship, and the first step is to make the playoffs,” said Managing Partner Jim Swanson. “We got to the dance last year, and we have more to accomplish. We think people have seen our commitment to excellence in all facets of the HarbourCats organization, and we’re proud to have this community behind us.”
“This free-tickets for playoffs approach is something we wanted to offer as yet another perk to being a season-ticket holder, and in particular those who have been supporters from the beginning. Those are the people who have become our friends, who we know on a first-name basis, and who have enjoyed the journey so far.”
A season ticket guarantees your seat to every game, including all of the most popular games including but not limited to Opening Day and fireworks nights.
The HarbourCats tied a WCL home wins record in 2016, going 23-4 while playing before an average of 2,239 fans per game at Royal Athletic Park. Attendance has risen each of the HarbourCats’ four seasons resulting in Victoria placing ninth in North America for per-game attendance among summer-collegiate teams.
Historic Royal Athletic Park, which has undergone various improvements since the HarbourCats began play in 2013, has played host to many of the largest crowds in league history including the all-time mark of 5,133 who watched the HarbourCats clinch their first-ever playoff berth on June 30, 2016. More ballpark improvements are under consideration for the 2017 season, with announcements at a later date.
