Georgia Southern Trio Highlight Newest Additions to 2018 Roster

Fagg brothers, infielders, a pitcher, and a two-way threat from Colorado-Mesa join 2018 squad

November 22, 2017, VICTORIA B.C. – The bloodlines and school lineage of the latest signings by the Victoria HarbourCats should certainly make the team’s fans take notice.

Head Coach Brian McRae, his coaching staff, and the front office are pleased to announce the signings of three players from Georgia Southern – infielders and brothers Jaxxon Fagg and Jeddediah (Jedd) Fagg, and right-hander Lawson Humphries – and pitcher/outfielder Trevin Reynolds of Colorado-Mesa (pictured left to right in photo above).

The HarbourCats anticipate making two major roster announcements as soon as next week as well.

Jaxxon and Jedd Fagg are the sons of Kip Fagg, a Washington State grad who is now senior director of amateur scouting with the Texas Rangers. Kip Fagg also coached at the college level, including two years at Long Beach State. The Fagg brothers, infielders from Gilbert, AZ, are also second cousins of new HarbourCats pitching coach Ian Sanderson (Lower Columbia College).

Jaxxon Fagg, Jedd Fagg and Lawson Humphries are also the first players from Georgia Southern to be signed by the HarbourCats, who are now in the sixth season of WCL baseball in Victoria.

“Adding another quality program to our network, and getting great players with strong baseball history, is important to continuing to grow our program,” said Jim Swanson, Managing Partner of the HarbourCats. “Jedd and Jaxxon are top recruits for us, and we’re excited about Humphries and his track record. Trevin is still excelling at both sides to this point and will have to start focusing on either hitting or pitching at some point. He’s had tremendous success in summer ball.”

Jeddediah Fagg was a three-sport star in high school and brings considerable size, playing either corner spot, a right-handed bat, and can also pitch. He was originally signed by Nevada-Reno and then played junior college at Yavapai. Jaxxson Fagg can play first or OF, and swings from the left side.

Humphries, from Phenix City, Alabama, is a sophomore at Georgia Southern. He has transitioned to full-time pitcher since being recruited out of Glenwood High School, where he was a first-team All-American in 2015, with 113 strikeouts in 66 innings as a senior.

Reynolds, is a two-way threat who was the MVP of the Kansas Collegiate Baseball League all-star game in 2017, hitting two home runs, and being named to the all-league team. The product of Las Vegas hit .331 with 35 RBIs, four home runs and 21 extra-base hits in 33 games for the Kansas Cannons, and will be a key player for Coach Chris Hanks at Colorado-Mesa this coming spring.

OF/RHP TREVIN REYNOLDS, Sophomore, Colorado-Mesa – 6-1/195, from Las Vegas, hit three home runs as a freshman for the top D-2 program, teammate of Tanner Rempel (returning to HarbourCats in 2018) and Taylor Prokopis (2017, HarbourCats). Reynolds fanned five and walked one in five innings as a freshman.

IF/P JEDDEDIAH FAGG, Junior, Georgia Southern – 6-1/205, from Gilbert, AZ, bats right, previously at Nevada-Reno and Yavapai College, product of Williams Field High School, highly recruited out of high school as a potential college quarterback. Passed for 21 touchdowns as a high school senior.
