PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 27, 2017

VICTORIA, B.C. – Victoria landmark Yates Street Taphouse has come on board as the official naming rights sponsor for the next two Baseball Canada Men’s National Championship Tournaments in 2017 and 2018, both hosted in Victoria.

The events will officially be known as the 2017/2018 Baseball Canada Men’s National Championship presented by Yates Street Taphouse.

“Having a local Victoria business such as Yates Street Taphouse come to the plate to sponsor the tournament and help bring this unique event to our city, shows the passion that Victoria has not just for baseball, but for being a host city for top national and international events,” said Gary Beyer, Chair of the Tournament Committee.

Royal Athletic Park, home of the Victoria HarbourCats, will serve as the primary host site (18 games) of the 10-team national championship. Lambrick Park, home to the Victoria Eagles of the British Columbia Premier League, will serve as a secondary host site for eight games.

Fans will be able to choose from a total of 26 games showcasing the best Canadian amateur baseball teams in the country vying for coveted Canadian national title. Playoff Sunday will see the bronze medal and gold medal games contested at Royal Athletic Park on August 27.

The official schedule for the 2017 tournament is expected in early April. A special announcement about a home run derby will be made in the coming weeks.
