June 8, 2019, Victoria, BC – After a tough 2-1 loss Friday night in the home opener and a 12-7 loss on Saturday night, the Victoria HarbourCats will hope to find a way to defeat the Corvallis Knights in the home opening seres finale Sunday afternoon at Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park. Game time is 1:00 pm on Alex DeGoti Bobblehad day.

On Friday, the HarbourCats Dillon Larsen pitched a gem of a game, holding the Knights to just one run over 6.2 innings, but a key error in the eighth, allowed Corvallis to score the go-ahead run, which proved to be the gme winner.

Victoria’s lone run came off the bat of Tanner Haney with a solo home run in the fifth inning.  Haney had a chance to be a hero in the ninth, when he came to bat with the tying and winning runs on base, as did Nick Plaia, but the Corvallis bullpen held, striking out Plaia with the bases loaded to end the game.

Today’s Sunday matinee, the first of the 2019 regular season, sponsored by the Vancouver Island Construction Association, pays homage to three year HarbourCat (2013-2016) Alex DeGoti, by honouring him with his very own bobblehead.  DeGoti is in the Houston Astros system with the AAA Round Rock Express and is just a step away from being the second ever HarbourCat to reach the big leagues.
