Floyd’s returns for fifth season at Wilson’s Group Stadium at RAP

Concession favourite a hit with fans at HarbourCats games

VICTORIA, B.C. — Five years, and counting, the Big Pink Truck is back for another season of Victoria HarbourCats baseball.

Floyd’s Diner, a staple in Victoria and Langford, will once again have its signature food truck serving delicious burgers, fries and creative menu items for HarbourCats fans at Wilson’s Group Stadium at RAP.

“There is literally nothing like a Floyd’s burger and fries on a sunny evening at a HarbourCats game — our fans tell us that all the time, and it’s a pleasure to work with Michelle and Petr and their crew,” said Jim Swanson, long-time Managing Partner/GM for the HarbourCats. “The smells coming from the truck, we’re quite sure, give us a home-field advantage as well — situated above the visitor’s dugout, the aroma has to be a distracting factor for the teams we’re trying to beat.”

Each year, Floyd’s works on various menu items and shifts things up to provide fresh new ideas, and the constant stream of people on the third base side speaks to the quality they offer. The Floyd’s area serves as a stellar spot to sit at a picnic table, get some shade for a few moments, and enjoy something from their menu while still seeing all the action on the field.

That action — starts June 1, with the first Alumni Game, with the regular season home opener slated for June 7. There are four fireworks games on the schedule this summer– June 8, June 30, July 20, and August 10.

“It’s a great location and setup to be able to be in view of the diamond, and we’re glad so many people enjoy what we’re able to offer,” said Petr Prusa, owner of Floyd’s. “It’s just a fun environment to be part of, serving great food to people having fun at a ballgame. It just doesn’t get any better than that on a lovely summer day in Victoria.”

While the food service options, which the HarbourCats have become known for, are being finalized, what can be divulged at this time is that some other favourites will be back — Jackson’s Ice Cream, Wilson’s Mini-Donuts, Molly’s Fish N Chips, Greek on the Street, and Saltchuk Pies. Additional options are in the works, along with a major new attraction that is expected to add to already league-leading attendance figures, brought on by the combination of great baseball, a festive atmosphere for people of all ages, and tremendous food options.

Service will be in place again for the Diamond Club and Campbell Club seats, along with the Strathcona Deck and the Upper Deck Experience, the signature double-decker bus presented by Wilson’s Transportation. Enhancements to those areas are being worked on as well.

“We’re proud of the experience our team has provided, and now new ideas can take hold and keep HarbourCats games as the place to be, and be seen,” said Swanson. “Everyone leaves the park having had a great time — it’s about bringing the community together, and we enjoy planning out the experience.”
