Bateman Foundation and HarbourCats team up to celebrate Salt Spring Island

For Immediate Release

June 14, 2019

Victoria, BC – The Bateman Foundation and The Bateman Foundation Gallery of Nature are teaming up with the Victoria HarbourCats for a celebration of baseball and Salt Spring Island on Saturday June 29th, 2019.

The Foundation will be the official charity for the HarbourCats game against the Kelowna Falcons at Royal Athletic Park. Robert Bateman – a resident of Salt Spring Island – will be in attendance and his son, John Bateman, will throw the first pitch.

Jim Swanson, Managing Partner and General Manager of the HarbourCats said: “This will be a special event to recognize one of the great artists of our generation, a true giant of Salt Spring Island and the Canadian art scene. We are honored to have Robert at the game, and we’re excited to see John show off his arm!”

100 VIP tickets are available for $20 each: they will grant access to the Bateman Foundation area on the Strathcona/Rooftop Party Deck to rub shoulders with Robert Bateman, and also fund their mission to reconnect people with nature using art. Visit the Foundation booth to learn more about their work, purchase a beautiful calendar or t-shirt, or enter the prize draw to win a free Robert Bateman print!

Peter Ord, Executive Director of the Bateman Foundation, said: “The Bateman Foundation is extremely proud to partner with the HarbourCats team – both our organisations have a strong commitment to creating a vibrant and sustainable community in Victoria and Salt Spring Island, so it’s a special honour for us to be celebrated at a home game!”
